Telangana braces for more rain as thunderstorms bring relief from heat

Hyderabad and Telangana have received a respite from the oppressive heat and moisture that had gripped the region in recent days, as overnight thunderstorms swept through multiple areas with heavy downpours, thunder, lightning and strong winds.
The intense weather system moved across the city after midnight, affecting numerous localities including Qutbullapur, Miyapur, Chandanagar, Lingampally, Gachibowli, Raidurgam, Madhapur, Banjara Hills, Kukatpally, Nizampet, Bachupally, Khairatabad, LB Nagar, Uppal, Vanasthalipuram and Hayathnagar. Light precipitation also touched Secunderabad, Balanagar, Bowenpally, Ameerpet, KPHB Colony, Lakdikapul, Dilsukhnagar and surrounding neighbourhoods.
The rainfall provided much-needed relief to residents who had been battling scorching temperatures and elevated humidity levels throughout the preceding week. Beyond the city limits, scattered showers were recorded across several districts in the state.
The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has maintained an orange alert across multiple districts, cautioning of additional rain in the coming hours. The weather service forecasts light to moderate precipitation over the next two to three hours, with wind gusts reaching speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour.
Seventeen districts have been flagged as likely to experience rainfall activity: Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hyderabad, Jangaon, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Medak, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Siddipet, Suryapet, Warangal Hanamkonda and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri. Additionally, authorities have indicated that Jogulamba Gadwal, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Vikarabad and Wanaparthy may also see precipitation.
