Hyderabad's Mehdipatnam Police have arrested an Uber Bike driver in relation to a residential theft in the Masab Tank area, successfully recovering stolen valuables worth approximately ₹10 lakh.

The suspect, identified as Biyya Shashidhar, 28, hails from New Bowenpally. During the operation, officers recovered 157.8 grams of gold jewellery, a Honda Activa scooter, and ₹12,000 in currency.

The theft was first reported on June 30 by Rajitha Srinivas Godari, who noticed gold ornaments missing from her home at Siri Priya Residency in Masab Tank. Through their investigation, police established that Shashidhar had prior acquaintance with the household, having been introduced through the complainant's niece and having made multiple visits to the residence.

According to investigators, the accused gained entry to the property under the guise of helping the family dispose of their vehicle. Once inside, he allegedly used keys stored within the house to unlock an almirah and remove the gold ornaments.

The stolen jewellery was subsequently sold at a market in Secunderabad. Following the sale, Shashidhar travelled to Goa where he spent some of the proceeds before making his way back to Hyderabad. Police apprehended him upon his return based on specific leads and recovered the remaining stolen items.

The investigation was conducted by Detective Inspector N. Rambabu and Station House Officer S. Mallesh, with support from the Crime Team at Mehdipatnam Police Station. The operation was overseen by ACP K. Srinivas under the supervision of DCP J. Raghavender Reddy and Additional DCP B. Srikrishna Goud.

Officials have indicated that members of the investigation team will receive commendations for their successful resolution of the case.
