Telangana Police, Education Sector Unite Against Drug Menace Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Initiative

Hyderabad: The fight against narcotics in India demands an integrated approach involving multiple stakeholders working in tandem, according to officials overseeing the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign.

At an event held at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar College in Baghlingampally on Wednesday, Telangana EAGLE Force Inspector P. Srinivasa Rao stressed that success against drug abuse hinges on synergies between law enforcement, educational bodies, civic organizations, and the broader public. The Central Bureau of Communication organized the Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme to bolster community awareness regarding the dangers of narcotics.

Inspector Srinivasa Rao highlighted that citizen engagement serves as the most potent tool in disrupting drug trafficking networks. He noted that Telangana Police have ramped up enforcement operations, drawing on reports submitted through the dedicated helpline 1908. Intelligence from residents has enabled authorities to trace, investigate, and dismantle drug distribution channels operating throughout Telangana.

The officer cautioned that traffickers strategically focus on students and educational campuses to grow their market reach. He called upon schools and colleges to intensify preventive education targeting young people, emphasizing that the state's counter-narcotics strategy rests on three foundations: rigorous law enforcement against suppliers, mass education drives, and treatment programmes for those battling addiction.

Shruti Patil, Additional Director General of the Press Information Bureau and Central Bureau of Communication, reaffirmed the government's commitment to disseminating information about central flagship initiatives. She underscored that education, prevention measures, and informed choices represent the most effective defenses against substance abuse while upholding the dignity of those seeking recovery.

Prof. Limbadri, chief executive of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Educational Institutions, identified drug addiction and online fraud as pressing threats confronting India's youth. He appealed to students to shun addictive drugs and become advocates for awareness within their peer groups and neighbourhoods.

The programme was attended by Prof. Yadagiri, Director of Evaluation at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Educational Institutions, Dr. Shekar Matta, Principal of the college, academic staff, students, and representatives from the Central Bureau of Communication.
