Telangana to Roll Out Land Re-Survey in Three Phases, Minister Announces

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will launch a statewide land re-survey initiative in three successive phases to strengthen the Bhu Bharati Act's implementation and safeguard farmers' land ownership, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced on Saturday.

During a video conference with district collectors convened from the Khammam District Collectorate, the Minister outlined the phased approach to the land re-survey programme. The first phase will encompass 70 villages across each district, with monthly review meetings to track implementation progress.

Results from a preliminary survey conducted in five villages demonstrated the approach's effectiveness, with 95 per cent of land disputes successfully resolved. Encouraged by these outcomes, the government has decided to scale up the exercise throughout the state.

Licensed surveyors engaged for the exercise will be compensated at Rs. 60 per acre, with the Minister warning that those failing to report for duty within prescribed timelines face licence cancellation.

The re-survey initiative is expected to address nearly 98 per cent of revenue-related grievances that typically surface during Praja Darbars, the Minister noted.

Ponguleti instructed officials to investigate the reasons behind rejections of Sadabainama applications and to issue necessary notices to expedite their resolution. He also ordered immediate corrective action in cases where entire land holdings had been listed under the prohibited 22A category despite only portions being acquired for government projects.

Beyond revenue administration, the Minister directed accelerated progress on Indiramma house construction and the handover of pending two-bedroom units to eligible beneficiaries. He emphasised prioritising families living in huts for the second phase of the housing programme and maintaining steady supplies of construction materials.

In a separate directive, the Education Department was instructed to ensure every government school student receives at least one pair of uniforms before August 15.
