Shailesh Vagerwal Assumes Leadership of Bharat Dynamics Limited

Shailesh Vagerwal has taken over as Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), stepping into the role with nearly three decades of experience in defence manufacturing.

A member of the Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS), Vagerwal holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from MBM Engineering College in Jodhpur. He also possesses an M.Sc. in Explosive Ordnance Engineering from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom.

Throughout his career, Vagerwal has held senior positions at several ordnance facilities, including Ordnance Factory Dum Dum, Ordnance Factory Itarsi, and Ordnance Factory Khamaria, as well as at Munitions India Limited. His professional expertise spans ammunition and explosives manufacturing, strategic planning, quality assurance, procurement, project management, research and development, exports, business development, and human resource management.

Prior to his appointment at BDL, Vagerwal served as Chief General Manager of Ordnance Factory Khamaria in Jabalpur, which operates under Munitions India Limited. He now leads the defence public sector undertaking, drawing on his extensive background across multiple facets of defence production and management.
