SCCL Intensifies Push to Ramp Up Coal Output While Safeguarding Quality Standards

Hyderabad — Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has set in motion a comprehensive drive aimed at expanding coal production while maintaining stringent quality benchmarks, responding to heightened electricity consumption fuelled by ongoing El Niño weather patterns.

As part of this initiative, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti has designated Special Officers across all operational Areas, tasking them with bolstering coal output and guaranteeing steady supplies that align with specified quality grades.

Over the coming three months, these Special Officers will oversee coal production metrics, quality assurance, grade preservation, dispatch operations, and productivity levels. Their responsibilities will also encompass streamlining operational processes, implementing efficiency gains, fostering collaboration between Area and Corporate units, and managing Corporate Social Responsibility activities.

During a video conference held from Singareni Bhavan on Saturday, the CMD engaged with Area General Managers to review production figures, quality performance, grade maintenance, and dispatch schedules.

Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti emphasised that quality has consistently defined SCCL's reputation. He therefore mandated that officials implement rigorous protocols to ensure consumers receive coal matching the declared specifications.

The strategic approach requires mining teams to conduct extraction operations following the Annual Coal Gradation Plan on a seam-by-seam basis. Each Area must verify that extracted coal conforms to its designated grade classification.

Officials have been instructed to conduct comprehensive cleaning of coal benches prior to blasting operations in off-loading zones. Proper spacing between coal benches and overburden benches must be maintained throughout.

The CMD further directed that rock and shale excavation be carried out independently, with no commingling with coal. All extracted material must be deposited exclusively in designated overburden disposal sites. Areas have also been required to adopt Standard Operating Procedures governing coal gallery maintenance and management of fiery coal scenarios.

To enhance processing capacity, SCCL will deploy sufficient crushers across all open-pit mining operations and Coal Handling Plants. These units must remain continuously operational to meet production targets.
