Congress Has Lost Public Confidence in Telangana, Says BRS Leader KTR

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao claimed on Thursday that the Congress administration in Telangana has forfeited public backing and faces an uphill task in recovering voter trust.

Speaking at a gathering of BRS functionaries from Hyderabad, KTR referenced an internal survey reportedly commissioned by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy as evidence of mounting public discontent halfway through the government's term. He did not elaborate on specifics of this survey.

According to KTR's account, the polling data suggested the BRS would secure approximately 78 Assembly seats in a fresh election. He added that two separate media surveys and evaluations conducted by both national and state intelligence services pointed to comparable findings.

The BRS leader also stated that survey respondents expressed a desire for former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to resume office. He contended that recent public statements by the sitting Chief Minister reflected the impact of these survey results.

KTR levelled accusations against the Congress government of deflecting focus from governance shortcomings through controversies surrounding the Kaleshwaram initiative and the Rythu Bandhu programme. He asserted that voters increasingly view the BRS as the main opposition force capable of challenging the current dispensation.

The party leader maintained that trust in the Congress administration has eroded across Telangana. He predicted that rebuilding public confidence would prove challenging for the Congress despite its political manoeuvres.

The session convened at the residence of former minister and legislator Talasani Srinivas Yadav in Jubilee Hills brought together BRS legislators, council members, parliamentarians, constituency coordinators and prominent party figures from the city. KTR used the occasion to assess party operations and provide direction to cadres on the SIR campaign.
