Kavitha Calls for Swift Resolution of Singareni Arrears, Rejects New Labour Codes

Telangana Rakshana Sena chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha has called on state authorities to urgently settle outstanding payments owed to Singareni and bolster support schemes for its workforce. Speaking after a visit to the PVK-5 underground mine facility in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Thursday, Kavitha outlined her movement's priorities for workers in the mining sector.
The political leader has scheduled a protest fast beginning July 20 in Godavarikhani, framing the action as a push for the creation of a dedicated medical board to serve Singareni employees. She has also appealed to the local legislator, Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, to introduce an Assembly motion opposing the implementation of four labour codes.
Kavitha highlighted what she characterized as wage violations affecting contract labourers, asserting that many are not receiving legally mandated minimum compensation. The Telangana Rakshana Sena, she stated, remains committed to advocating for worker protections and fair treatment across the sector.
Turning to intra-party politics, Kavitha leveled criticism at the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, contending that the party has sought to suppress media reporting on her political endeavours. She categorically ruled out any possibility of returning to the BRS, dismissing circulating reports to the contrary.
The TRS chief additionally asserted that the BRS has attempted to challenge her party's name, claiming that the Election Commission had originally endorsed the Telangana Rakshana Sena designation. She expressed confidence that legal processes would vindicate her organization's right to the name.
Kavitha has also called for a financial audit of the BRS, alleging that the party's ₹1,400 crore bank reserves stem from undisclosed arrangements. In a separate allegation, she claimed that BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao recently acquired an English-language newspaper for ₹188 crore, though she did not furnish documentation substantiating the assertion.
