Instamart and HPCL Team Up to Bring On-Demand LPG Cylinder Delivery to India

Chennai — Quick commerce platform Instamart has entered into a strategic collaboration with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise, to introduce India's inaugural on-demand LPG cylinder delivery service through a quick commerce channel. The initiative brings a fundamental household utility into the realm of rapid delivery services and marks the platform debut of HPCL's recently unveiled HP Navya, a next-generation 10 kg composite LPG cylinder.

The offering will commence operations in Bengaluru, enabling customers to procure the HP Navya cylinder, engineered to be lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and equipped with upgraded safety mechanisms suited for contemporary households. The cylinder features a see-through design allowing users to monitor fuel levels, while its streamlined, modern aesthetic makes it particularly suitable for apartment dwellers, compact households, working professionals, students, and those seeking a supplementary LPG source. A conventional 5 kg metal cylinder variant will also be offered on the platform.

A distinctive advantage of this service is that consumers need not maintain an active domestic LPG connection to make purchases, opening the option to a broader demographic including students, professionals living independently, and smaller family units.

"Instamart has evolved beyond grocery delivery to become an integral part of daily routines," said Amitesh Jha, Instamart's Chief Executive Officer. "Our collaboration with HPCL extends that convenience factor to a vital household requirement, ensuring that LPG reaches customers through the safety and dependability standards they rightfully demand."

Amit Garg, Director of Marketing at HPCL, commented: "Consumer preferences continue to shift, and HPCL remains dedicated to delivering solutions that reflect these changes. By making LPG more accessible and convenient, we're serving Naya Bharat with the safety, credibility, and consistency that define the HP Gas brand. HP Navya embodies our vision of innovative energy offerings that simplify and enhance daily living. The Instamart platform enables us to connect with customers through a streamlined, convenient, and digitally integrated channel, making HP Navya Composite LPG Cylinders widely available while elevating customer satisfaction."

The service operates through a straightforward process. Customers access Instamart's application, browse available cylinder options—either the 10 kg composite or 5 kg metal variant—add their selection to their cart, and finalize the order. Initial purchases are processed as new cylinder acquisitions. Subsequent orders can be placed as refills, with consumers returning their depleted HPCL cylinder during the delivery of their replacement.

Fulfillment occurs via HPCL's network of licensed distributors, with delivery managed by the distributor's qualified personnel adhering to applicable safety regulations and legal requirements. First-time buyers must complete identity verification procedures, with proof-of-delivery documentation integrated into the system to guarantee a secure, regulation-compliant transaction from start to finish.

For Instamart, which currently distributes more than 50,000 different products to customers, this expansion signals entry into high-confidence product categories, reinforcing its position in consumers' daily routines. For HPCL, the move represents an extension of its extensive distribution heritage into an innovative, technology-driven channel centered on user convenience.
