Hyderabad Traffic Police Expand Fleet with 30 New Patrol Bikes via Corporate Partnerships

Hyderabad's traffic management infrastructure received a significant boost as the Traffic Police department commissioned 30 additional patrol bikes through a collaborative initiative with the Hyderabad City Security Council (HCSC). The new vehicles were formally introduced at an event where Police Commissioner and HCSC Chairman V.C. Sajjanar oversaw the ceremonial launch.

The expansion project was made possible through corporate partnerships, with various businesses contributing ₹1.6 crore in corporate social responsibility funding for the acquisition of Avenger patrol bikes. This investment has enlarged the city's mobile patrol capability, bringing the total fleet of patrol vehicles to 80 units.

NCC Urban emerged as the leading contributor, providing 13 bikes, while Veka supplied 10 units. Ratnadeep Retail added four bikes to the fleet, Kamal Watch Company sponsored two vehicles, and Brihaspathi Perspective Technologies contributed one bike.

The newly inducted patrol teams will leverage CCTV surveillance systems to enable rapid deployment in response to accidents, vehicle malfunctions, unauthorized parking, and traffic congestion points across the city. Sajjanar emphasized the technological integration as a key component of improved emergency response protocols.

Speaking about the city's traffic challenges, Sajjanar highlighted that Hyderabad currently hosts approximately 95 lakh vehicles on its roads. The vehicle count continues to rise substantially, with an estimated 1,500 to 2,000 new vehicles registering daily. This growth places considerable pressure on the traffic management system, which relies on between 2,500 and 3,000 personnel to regulate the city's roadways.

In a related development, the HCSC has deployed 120 Traffic Marshals over the preceding six-month period to support traffic operations. The department is also advancing its Spandana initiative, a women-centered emergency response programme, with plans to establish electric vehicle-based units at every police station throughout the city.

The event concluded with recognition ceremonies honoring 45 corporate entities for their contributions to traffic management through CSR initiatives, particularly those supporting the Traffic Marshals programme.
