HMRL's Additional MD Inspects Uppal Depot, Reviews Metro Operations and Safety Standards

Hyderabad's Metro Rail operations came under scrutiny this week as Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited's (HMRL) Additional Managing Director B. Ajith Reddy visited the Uppal Metro Depot on Tuesday to evaluate the system's performance and safety infrastructure.

During his tour, Ajith Reddy examined the Operations Control Centre (OCC) and the Command Control Centre (CCC), where officials provided detailed briefings on how trains are managed in real time, along with updates on signalling infrastructure, security monitoring systems, and protocols for handling emergencies across the entire network.

A dedicated review session brought together senior personnel from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRHL), the Keolis team, and HMRL leadership. These stakeholders discussed multiple operational dimensions, including day-to-day train services, passenger amenities, upkeep systems, control mechanisms, depot infrastructure, safety guidelines, and the financial management of metro services.

The Additional Managing Director also made stops at the Maintenance Workshop and the Wheel Lathe Workshop to assess how rolling stock and other essential systems are maintained. His observations of the maintenance standards and the operational proficiency demonstrated by the workforce were positive.

The inspection was attended by several key HMRL officials: Chief Electrical Engineer D.V.S. Raju, Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineer S.K. Das, Chief Project Manager Anand Mohan, Chief Engineer (FAC) Sayapa Reddy, and General Manager (Security) Srinath Reddy.
