Emirates Explores A380 Deployment to Hyderabad as Telangana Seeks Expanded Air Links

Hyderabad — A significant meeting between Emirates India Vice President Mohammed Sarthan and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday centred on expanding the airline's footprint in the state, with the introduction of A380 aircraft services emerging as a key discussion point.

Marking 25 years of operations in India, Sarthan visited Reddy at his residence to explore opportunities for strengthening Hyderabad's position as an international aviation hub. During their discussions, both parties examined ways to deepen the airline's engagement with the state and enhance connectivity from the city.

The prospect of deploying the Airbus A380 — one of the world's largest passenger aircraft — was highlighted as a potential game-changer for Hyderabad's global reach and passenger handling capacity. The Chief Minister simultaneously pressed Emirates to boost flight frequencies between the city and its international network, pledging full backing from the state administration for any expansion initiatives.

Beyond aircraft operations, Reddy put forward a proposal for Emirates to establish Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities at either of two upcoming airports planned for Telangana. The government committed to providing necessary infrastructure and support for such ventures.

The Chief Minister also sought Emirates' partnership in sponsoring training programmes for athletes at Gachibowli Sports University. Sarthan responded favourably to the proposal, signalling the airline's openness to the initiative.

These conversations underscored the state government's determination to channel investment into aviation infrastructure while leveraging partnerships like Emirates to cement Hyderabad's status as a major gateway for international travel.
