Jharkhand Teen's Nursing Dreams Revived Through Education Sponsorship

July 14, 2026

A compelling video of PhysicsWallah founder and CEO Alakh Pandey assisting a young student from Jharkhand to restart her schooling has captured attention across social media platforms.

The encounter took place in Laxmipur village, Jharkhand, where Pandey had travelled to inaugurate a digital library facility. There, he met Sonali Thudu, a 14-year-old from a tribal community in the surrounding area who had been forced to abandon her studies due to financial hardship. Sonali expressed her dream of pursuing nursing as a career and her desire to attend St. Mary School, a residential institution located in Tisri, Giridih district.

Sonali's family has endured considerable struggles following a workplace accident that left her father unable to continue his housekeeping position in Hyderabad. Her mother now walks 10 kilometres daily to work caring for livestock on a neighbouring farm, earning minimal wages to support the household.

Impressed by Sonali's resolve and her family's circumstances, Pandey made arrangements for her admission to the school, accompanying both the student and her parents throughout the process. He has committed to covering her tuition fees and residential accommodation costs for Classes 9 and 10, alongside additional financial support to meet her broader educational requirements.

Beyond financial assistance, Pandey provided Sonali with a fresh school uniform and personally escorted her to her classroom on her first day, where he introduced her to her teachers and peers as she embarked on this new phase of her academic life.

Sonali's journey exemplifies how meaningful intervention and access to quality education can fundamentally transform individual prospects and futures.
