Telangana ACB Apprehends Survey Official in ₹15,000 Graft Operation

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau successfully executed a sting operation on Wednesday, apprehending a government official accused of soliciting and receiving a bribe in Mahabubnagar district.

Bommireddy Venkateshwar Reddy, employed as Superintendent at the Office of the Assistant Director (Survey and Land Records) in Mahabubnagar, was caught accepting ₹15,000 from a member of the public. The ACB recovered the full amount during the operation.

According to investigators, the official had demanded the payment in exchange for facilitating bureaucratic action. Specifically, Reddy allegedly agreed to move forward a file concerning amendments to the village cadastral map of Karvena village, located in Boothpur mandal, Mahabubnagar district. The ACB characterised his conduct as dishonest behaviour undertaken to secure an improper benefit.

Following completion of the trap procedure, authorities arrested Reddy. He is scheduled to be presented before the Special Judge designated for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally for orders regarding custody.

The bureau has maintained confidentiality regarding the complainant's identity as a protective measure. Investigation into the matter continues.

The ACB has reiterated its appeal to the public to come forward with information about extortion attempts by officials. Complaints can be registered through the bureau's toll-free helpline at 1064, via WhatsApp, or through its social media channels. The agency assures complainants that their identities will remain confidential.
