Lava International Opens New Component Manufacturing Facility at Noida Plant

Lava International Limited, a prominent Indian mobile device manufacturer, has opened a new component and charger manufacturing facility at its Noida plant, reinforcing its commitment to domestic production and quality assurance. The facility's inauguration was presided over by Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma, Uttar Pradesh's Minister of Electronics & Information Technology, alongside Lava's Managing Director Sunil Raina and Executive Director & Chief Manufacturing Officer Sanjeev Agarwal.

The expansion represents a strategic move aligned with the central government's Make in India initiative, incorporating six sigma manufacturing principles to enhance quality, operational efficiency, and overall value creation.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma emphasized the state government's broader ambitions. "The UP administration, under Shri Yogi Adityanath's direction, aspires to position Noida as India's premier mobile manufacturing centre. Our developmental agenda focuses on establishing an ecosystem that drives growth, generates employment, and maintains robust governance standards. I extend my congratulations to Lava's leadership team and workforce on achieving this significant milestone, and I remain committed to fostering industrial expansion and shared prosperity across the region."

Sunil Raina highlighted Lava's trajectory over nearly two decades. "Throughout our 17-year existence, Lava has remained dedicated to establishing an authentically Indian technology brand with worldwide relevance. We have consistently prioritised product excellence, manufacturing prowess, design independence, and delivering a seamless user experience. This manufacturing facility embodies our strategic direction to drive innovation from India for global markets. As champions of Make in India, we are committed to strengthening our manufacturing capabilities and research and development infrastructure by 2030, supported by the government's collaborative approach. I am particularly grateful to Shri Sunil Kumar Sharmaji for his steadfast backing in this undertaking and for positioning Uttar Pradesh as a leader in India's technological advancement."

Sanjeev Agarwal stressed the broader significance of India's electronics sector. "Evaluating India's electronics development purely through export metrics and production figures provides an incomplete picture. The sector must serve the requirements of Indian consumers, generate employment possibilities, and enable engineers to create products for their own communities. Since 2015, Lava has invested substantially in developing manufacturing capabilities. The new component manufacturing venture aims to expand production capacity and reinforce the domestic manufacturing foundation for mobile operations. I remain deeply appreciative of Shri Sunil Kumar Sharmaji's pivotal contributions in transforming Uttar Pradesh into an emerging technology manufacturing hub. The state's robust infrastructure, government support schemes, and programmes such as ESDM position it for significant growth momentum in the manufacturing sector."

The Noida facility currently employs over 3,000 workers and operates with a production capacity of 20 million units annually. The newly launched component manufacturing division is designed to produce 9 million units per year. The company invests in employee development through in-house training, structured apprenticeship programmes under NAPS, and a B.Vocational curriculum where Lava covers all university expenses, enabling workers to advance from production roles into engineering and management positions.

This expansion marks a significant milestone in Lava's evolution, enhancing domestic value creation, decreasing reliance on international component suppliers, and expanding employment opportunities. The company maintains a leading position in the feature phone market, is expanding its presence in smartphones, and has diversified into true wireless stereo (TWS) audio manufacturing.
