Hinduja Foundation Opens Scholarship Opportunities for Indian Students at King's College London

Hinduja Foundation, the charitable wing of the Hinduja Group, has unveiled scholarship opportunities for students of Indian origin seeking to study healthcare innovation at King's College London's prestigious medical technology programmes.

The initiative builds on a landmark 2024 philanthropic commitment by Hinduja Foundation UK to establish the Hinduja King's Health Partners' Academy at the London institution. This collaborative effort encompasses full four-year PhD studentships in healthcare technologies through the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences, as well as one-year master's degrees in MedTech Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The partnership is designed to strengthen healthcare systems and innovation in both the United Kingdom and India.

The scope of the collaboration extends to India through P.D. Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai, which now receives nurse training programmes, observership opportunities, and online leadership development courses delivered by Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Since the programme's launch, five scholars have already commenced their studies at King's College London. Three PhD scholars and two master's students began their courses in October 2025, while an additional PhD scholar enrolled in February 2026.

For the 2026-2027 academic year commencing in October, the foundation is accepting applications for four additional PhD positions and five master's scholarships. Prospective PhD candidates can find application details and requirements through the Surgery CDT portal, with a submission deadline of 30 May 2026.

The master's programme offers five scholarships at varying levels of support: one full scholarship covering 80 per cent of costs and four scholarships covering 50 per cent of costs, reserved exclusively for Indian citizens. The application window for these positions closes on 19 June 2026.

According to Ashok Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Foundation, the initiative reflects the organisation's commitment to developing talent capable of meeting healthcare challenges. "Guided by our philosophy of 'Act Local, Think Global', we believe investing in future-ready talent is essential to building resilient healthcare systems in India that are aligned with global standards, contributing to the vision of a Viksit Bharat," he stated. "Through this partnership, we aim to enable Indian students to access global expertise. The focus is on strengthening India's capabilities in healthcare and expanding the scope of knowledge and research linked to India. Over the long term, the objective is to advance India's role in the global healthcare landscape."

The scholarships provide Indian students with exposure to cutting-edge research, practical experience in clinical settings, and mentorship from leading healthcare professionals, positioning them to address pressing medical challenges and contribute to healthcare advancement both domestically and internationally.
