Brown-Forman Launches The Glendronach Single Malts in India

New Delhi — Brown-Forman has unveiled The Glendronach in India, bringing the renowned Highland distillery's portfolio of sherry cask-matured single malts to Indian consumers. The launch includes the distillery's flagship expressions: The Glendronach Aged 12 Years, 15 Years, and 18 Years.
Established in 1826 in Scotland's "Valley of Brambles," The Glendronach has earned recognition for its unwavering focus on sherry cask maturation, producing whiskies characterised by depth, layered complexity, and what enthusiasts consider the pinnacle of sherried whisky craftsmanship.
Crafted in the rugged north-eastern Scottish Highlands, the whiskies reflect the interplay between robust Highland spirit and richly seasoned Spanish oak. The distillery predominantly matures its stock in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks from Andalucía, Spain. Over extended periods, these casks impart colour, texture, and intricate flavour layers, resulting in a distinctly sherried profile that develops progressively across the palate.
Pedro Ximénez casks contribute raisin-forward richness and density, while Oloroso casks introduce dryness, walnut notes, and spice—elements that collectively define the distillery's house character. The distinctive saxophone-shaped stills at The Glendronach produce a heavier spirit capable of withstanding prolonged maturation. The whisky matures in traditional racked warehouses within the cool, damp Highland climate, where flavour develops methodically, permitting layers of richness to emerge with precision.
The three expressions available in India each showcase different facets of the distillery's style. The 12-year expression presents sherried autumn fruit, gingerbread, chocolate praline, and orange peel notes, representing the clearest articulation of house character. The 15-year variant builds upon this foundation with greater refinement and intricacy, featuring maraschino cherry, walnut liqueur, and dark chocolate mint layers. The 18-year expression, matured exclusively in Oloroso casks, constitutes the most concentrated offering in the core range, displaying stewed fruits, tobacco, toasted walnut bread, and an extended velvet finish. All three are bottled with natural cask-derived colour only.
Dr. Rachel Barrie, Master Blender, oversaw the creation of each expression. Describing the whisky during her visit to India, Barrie noted, "The Glendronach is a surprise, a revelation. It begins with an aroma that is inviting, enticing and mellow, before opening into an amplification and crescendo of flavour across the palate – becoming far richer than you first expect. The whisky builds beautifully with every sip, and what is particularly exciting about India is the growing appreciation for that kind of depth, detail, and complexity within single malt whisky."
Gaurav Sabharwal, Managing Director for India and South Asia at Brown-Forman, stated, "The launch of The Glendronach marks another important step in Brown-Forman's premiumisation journey in India and further strengthens our presence within the luxury and super-premium whisky segment. Indian consumers today are demonstrating a far deeper appreciation for provenance, craftsmanship, and distinctive flavour profiles, and The Glendronach's richly sherried Highland character makes it a compelling addition to our portfolio at a particularly opportune moment for the category."
Vinay Joshi, Director of Marketing for the Indian Sub-Continent and Maldives, added, "The Glendronach represents a significant milestone for us as we enter the Single Malt Scotch category in India with a brand that possesses both exceptional heritage and a truly distinctive whisky style. The objective is not simply to participate in the category's growth, but to bring a more differentiated and flavour-led proposition to India's increasingly knowledgeable community of single malt scotch collectors and connoisseurs."
The brand's introduction to the Indian market included curated launch experiences across Mumbai and New Delhi. These events combined immersive tastings with narrative-driven exploration of cask maturation, provenance, and flavour development, providing attendees with deeper insight into The Glendronach's distinctive character.
The whiskies are currently available in Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, and Chandigarh, with expansion into additional states anticipated throughout 2026.
